Frequently Asked Questions:

1.  Does ATX Counseling take my insurance for therapy?

We are not currently accepting insurance but can provide an out-of-network reimbursement form to submit to your insurance company.

2.  How long does therapy take?

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, different people require a different approach to treatment.  We like to meet with you consistently in the beginning of our work together in order to establish a relationship and then as goals are being met, we can move to less frequent sessions.

3.  What does good therapy look like?

It is important that you are able to form an open and honest relationship with your therapist.  This allows you to work together to find solutions that work best for you and ensure your needs are being met.  Good therapy means you are able to use your relationship with your therapist to create new, more positive patterns in and out of the therapy room.

4.  How do I get started?

When you fill out the form above, our Client Care Coordinator will contact you to discuss your needs and find out if we are going to be a good fit for you and/or your family.

5.
As a parent, will I be involved in my child's counseling?

Teenagers that make the most progress have caregivers who are regularly involved in the counseling process.  In order to build a trusting, safe relationship, we will not share specifics of what your child talks about; however, checking in with me to discuss  progress can help create more positive changes at home.   This may include meeting with us for 5 or 10 minutes individually or being involved in family sessions all together.

6. Counseling sessions:

Our sessions typically last 45 to 50 minutes.  Some sessions, including family sessions, may require more time and we can schedule additional time as needed.

7.  Any other recommendations?

Group Therapy is also a great way to learn more about yourself and how you relate to others.  This may be something you and your therapist consider together according to your needs.
