Q&A With Kate
What do you enjoy most about your work?
What I enjoy most about my work as a therapist is the profound privilege of witnessing and facilitating personal growth and transformation in my clients. It's incredibly fulfilling to see individuals overcome challenges, gain new insights, and develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving. Each client's journey is unique, and I am honored to be a part of their process, offering support, guidance, and new perspectives. The relationships I build with my clients, grounded in trust and empathy, are deeply rewarding and inspire me to continually learn and grow both personally and professionally. Ultimately, helping people achieve meaningful change and improve their well-being is what I find most gratifying about my work.
How does therapy create change?
Therapy fosters change through a supportive process that helps individuals understand and address their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This journey enhances self-awareness, emotional processing, skill development, and provides validation and support. I believe that empowerment is also crucial. Many people feel they don't deserve the best life has to offer, and my role is to help clients believe in themselves and recognize their inherent worthiness.
On a personal note...
The book I'm currently reading is Dopamine Nation, I find it interesting how the constant pursuit of pleasure, facilitated by an abundance of easily accessible stimuli (like technology, drugs, food, and other addictive behaviors), leads to a state of imbalance and disconnection from ourselves and others.
Outside of my work, I moved to Austin from Arizona and I love learning more about this fun, creative city! I love hiking, traveling, animals, and my dog, Nola.
